We thank the participants, Schools and our partners in making Sakal Chitrakala Spardha a huge success.

‘Sakal Chitrakala Spardha’ is Pan India level drawing competition for young art enthusiasts. This 16th December, it is expected that an astounding participation of more than 7,00,000 children simultaneously across 1000 centers will come together and celebrate art. This will be the 33nd year of the competition, during the course of which in a Maharashtrian family it has become an annual ritual to send their kids to enjoy art and compete. The competition has 4 levels depending on age groups. Keeping up with reach of digital, the art enthusiasts can also participate online. The competition provides an ideal opportunity for the young minds to unfold their imagination and creativity through colors on various topics.
SAKAL CHITRAKALA SPARDHA 2018 It is with great enthusiasm that Sakal Media group announces its 33nd year of ‘Sakal Chitrakala Spardha’. ‘Sakal’ has been a change leader and we have set a precedent in many transformation ventures and programmes that we have successfully undertaken in the recent past. Our vision has always included people participation through social and cultural change and without the support of our stakeholders, such a vast Endeavour would not have come to fruition.
The ‘Sakal Chitrakala Spardha’ had started with the intention of providing children with a platform for ‘free and creative expression’. This idea gained such momentum that we continue to receive an overwhelming response of more than 5 lakh students every year. Such a grand success would not have been possible, dear principals, had it not been possible without your complete trust and belief in core values and ethics that ‘Sakal’ has unflinchingly stood for. Last year, the ‘Sakal Chitrakala Spardha’ has taken a new leap as we participate in the digital age by having an online platform, where children can submit their drawings thus actively opening up participation to lakhs of kids outside the purview of school participation. Your support is extremely valuable for us in our journey to develop the uniqueness, social consciousness and spontaneous expression, all of which foster the individual growth of a child. Art, after all, is not an effort of will, but a gift of grace. It is a testimony of our culture, its positive qualities which are indispensable in fostering an organic growth in our children.- Mrunal Pawar,
