The Toilet Project Gives The Girls A Chance
One of the major hurdles for Hema and many girls like her was the lack of proper toilet facilities in schools. Due to inadequate infrastructure, many girls would drop out, missing days of school every month. But then, 'Act for Education' stepped in and made a much-needed difference. Under the 'Social for Action' campaign, 16 schools in Pune, Solapur, and Satara districts were equipped with clean and safe toilets. For Hema, this meant she no longer had to worry about missing school due to lack of facilities.
Embracing the Digital Age with E-Learning
The world is rapidly changing, and digital literacy has become crucial. Recognizing this, 'Act for Education' provided e-learning setups to over fifty schools in rural areas, including Hema's. Now, she could access the same quality education as her urban counterparts, leveling the playing field and getting her closer to her dream.
Toilets Done, Commute Next
While the lack of toilets was a major concerns for girls of the village, the hurdles did not end there. Another significant challenge for girls like Hema was transportation. With schools located far from their homes, many girls had to walk long distances, risking their safety and health. But 'Act for Education', hellbent on making sure girls had access to quality education, amde sure we came up with a solutions. Named the 'Cycle Bank' project, the initiative equpped schoolgoing girls with a bicycle, cutting down their travel time and ensuring they reached school safely.
The Heartwarming Story of Tanvi
While Hema's story is a testament to the transformative power of 'Act for Education', there are many more tales of triumph. Take Tanvi Kakade, a 14-year-old from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as an example. Despite facing hearing loss due to a malfunctioning cochlear implant, Tanvi's dream of hearing again was realized through the 'Social for Action' campaign. With the support of generous donors, Tanvi received a new 'Nucleus Eight Sound Processor', allowing her to hear once more
