A father needs your help! His 10-year-old daughter is fighting leukaemia

A father and a daughter always share a beautiful bond. The daughter is the ‘Dad’s Princess’ while the dad is her ‘Superhero’ as he not only showers love on her but also takes care of her safety and boosts her confidence. One such father is struggling for his 10-year-old daughter’s life, going door to door seeking help.

Sandeep Konde (45) lives with his ailing parents, wife and three daughters in Kasba Peth. He is the only earning member of the family and is working in the housekeeping department of a private company. Despite his meagre earnings and multiple responsibilities, Sandeep is ensuring that his daughters get a good education. He also sells homemade sandwiches collected from various places, to add to his income.

Till three months ago, Sandeep was living happily with his family despite the hardship but destiny dealt a cruel blow to them. Three months ago, suddenly, his 10-year-old daughter Tanishka had a fever and severe stomach ache. Medical tests revealed that Tanishka is suffering from second-stage leukaemia. This left Sandeep and his family completely shaken.

Thankfully, the medical officers treating Tanishka have given Sandeep some consolation by saying that Tanishka’s cancer is in the second stage and she can be completely cured if she undergoes immediate treatment and continues it for 2-2½ years.

Action
Medical examination showed a hole in Tanishka’s stomach due to cancer which had developed an infection. She was operated upon in a private hospital and around 2-2½ ltr fluid was removed from her stomach. The surgery for the hole was successful and Tanishka is responding well to the treatment.

The surgery and medicines have cost ₹4 lakh so far. Sandeep had to break the small FDs he had made for his parents, sell his wife’s jewellery and also borrow money from relatives to raise the amount. Tanishka is currently undergoing chemotherapy and in the next 2-2½ years, her treatment, medical tests, chemotherapy and medicines will need approximately ₹10 lakh. Sandeep and his family cannot arrange for such a huge amount. Therefore, Sandeep is approaching various organisations and charitable people for help.

Says Sandeep about his daughter, “Tanishka is my youngest daughter. She is a bright student. She also won a scholarship this year. She wants to appear for a competitive exam and become a government officer when she grows up. I am trying to fulfil her dream but this disease has left me helpless. I seek help from people for my daughter’s treatment.”
